LEAF POP ART PROJECT FOR KIDS
WARHOL POP ART
Famous artist, Andy Warhol was born in the USA in 1928. Warhol was part of a group of artists who used images in their artwork from popular cultures such as those found in advertising, comic books, and everyday mass-produced objects. This type of art is referred to as Pop Art.
Warhol would use commercial mass-produced images in his art. One example of this was a series on Campbell Soup cans. In one painting Warhol had two hundred Campbell’s soup cans repeated over and over. He would also use silkscreen and lithography to create his pictures.
Warhol made a lot of money from his paintings but he is also credited with bringing art to the masses. He would mass-produce prints of his art so it was affordable to everyone.

HOW TO MAKE LEAF POP ART
STEP 1. Print leaf template.
STEP 2. Color the leaves and the backgrounds different colors using oil pastels.
STEP 3. After using the pastels, paint over each leaf and each background with a watercolor of a similar color.
TIP: If the leaf is blue, use a blue watercolor or if the background is red, use red. The watercolor will fill in the small spots that the oil pastel missed, and the combination makes an interesting new look.
STEP 4. Use a tissue to blot up any excess watercolor that beads up.
STEP 5. Repeat with the remaining leaves. Then leave to dry and hang up your leaf pop art.
