THE SCIENCE OF SNOW PAINT
This blustery snowy art activity is actually a science experiment showcasing the properties of an endothermic reaction, but we like it because it’s disguised as big, freezing fun. Make your own snow paint to use with just two simple ingredients! As the shaving cream and baking soda mix, a powdery, snow-like substance is left.

Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) mixed with the acid/lanolin/ sorbitan compound (shaving cream) creates a mixture that is cold to the touch, otherwise known as an endothermic reaction. It is fairly rare to get an endothermic reaction in the safety of your home without using actual chemicals!

SNOWY NIGHT PAINTING
SUPPLIES:
- Van Gogh printable
- Colored Markers
- Shaving cream
- Baking soda
- A fork
- Glue
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1: Print out the snowy night coloring page.
STEP 2: Color the page with markers.
STEP 3: Make up some snowy paint by combining 1/2 cup of shaving cream and 1/2 cup of baking soda with a fork until the mixture is crumbly.
STEP 4: Paint some glue onto your paper where you would like to place your ‘snow’.
STEP 5: Use your fingers or a paintbrush to apply the snow paint to your
design where you think snow might fall.
